About the owner: Anthony Russell-Roberts
Born in England in 1944. Educated at Eton College and New College, Oxford.
Began his career as a management consultant with a brewing conglomerate. Then became a partner in a firm specializing in commercial property development.
Changed career in 1976 to work in the Arts at Glyndebourne Festival Opera and Kent Opera in stage management. In 1977 joined the Royal Opera House as Assistant to the General Director.
Artistic Administrator of the Théâtre National de l’Opéra between 1981 and 1983, planning and co-ordinating opera productions and concerts at the Paris Opéra and the Opéra Comique, as well as special projects in and around Paris.
From 1983 to 2009, Administrative Director of The Royal Ballet at Covent Garden.
In 1988 inherited Ashton´s Suffolk house and a portfolio of ballets, which can be viewed on this website.
Awarded a CBE in 2004.
Trustee of The Ashton Foundation since its creation in 2004 to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Frederick Ashton´s birth.
The 25th Anniversary of Frederick Ashton´s death in 2013 inspired greater and renewed interest in his works, which has generated greater knowledge around the world about Ashton´s ‘English style’ and his achievements. His works continue to be much in demand.
